Monash University 2020 Chinese Course Guide
Problem
In this course guide, Monash wanted a design that used expressive photography, reminiscent of photojournalism publications, all intending to put the Universiti’s course information front and centre. The university's traditional brand had to be considered within this document to ensure Monash was easily recognisable while also allowing the guide to be attractive and distinct.
Solution
Not only did the entire document need to be typeset in Mandarin, but care also had to be given to ensure any copy written in English was in Monash's brand typeface. Because words in Mandarin must be formatted correctly to be legible, we had to ensure that all content was arranged precisely. Just one character misaligned could render the entire sentence unreadable. Working closely with Monash's Chinese engagement manager, we created a publication that was on brand and visually appealing.
Result
Using photography and testimonials of actual Chinese students helped personalise this course guide and continue to promote Monash as the Australian university for Chinese nationals wanting to study abroad.
