United Nations 2017 General Assembly Security Report

Problem

Two key incentives lead to the creation of this document. Firstly, the design for the UN's Security Council report is currently nonexistent, a simple PDF of a Word document is uploaded to an out of sight section of their website. Secondly, these reports contain information that actively catalogues all UN resolutions as well as provides context on ongoing actions around the world from global security and peacekeeping, to education and domestic violence. The document needed to be clean and legible so its data could be easily accessed and promoted.

Solution

Our creative solution was to bring the content to the forefront, with data that is presented in an easily digestible way to reduce the complexity of the report. Using imagery provided by photojournalists operating in the countries where the UN has a presence brought the statistics some much-needed context. The entire document was created with a single blue to make printing more manageable, yet still, be visually appealing.

Result

The new layout instantly made this report stand out, distinguishing it from all other releases published on the UN's website. Content that is displayed with preparation inspires trust with an audience, and we feel justifies the hard work and sacrifice many make behind the scenes to ensure we live in a safe and conflict-free world.

As one commentator said: "Important information deserves to be presented beautifully".
